The Nightmare ended for the millions of LA Dodger fans around the world when a group led by Magic Johnson but the team from previous owner Frank McCourt. People rejoiced because Magic Johnson is Los Angeles, he led the “Show Time” version of the Lakers to four NBA Championships in the 1980’s. The Dodgers didn’t do too bad either winning the World Series in 1981 and 1989. Fans like myself are hoping under Magic’s regime, that the Dodgers can get back to competing for championships and being amongst the game’s elite. I didn’t feel right looking at Dodger games and not seeing a usual sell out crowd and fans screaming to their highest pitch. I personally like the Dodgers because Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball. That to me is huge in the time frame where it took place being in the 1940’s where the color of your skin was an everyday issue. Fast Forward to 2012 where the Dodgers best player is black and his name is Matt Kemp. Yea I know Yankee Fans can boast about their 27 World Series Trophies but i can boast that my team the Dodgers were the first team to break the color barrier in baseball and that is truly amazing.
No longer do the Dodgers have to worry about the team being bankrupt with their owner running them into the ground. They can go just play baseball and compete as hard as they can. They are lead by the killer K’s: Clayton Kershaw and Matt Kemp. The N.L West is always wide open, with the Arizona Diamond Backs being the returning champion, the San Francisco Giants having very good pitching and one of the best hitting catchers in Buster Posey, the upstart Colorado Rockies led by Carlos Gonzalez and the very young San Diego Padres. I think if the Dodgers manage to stay healthy, pitch deep into games and get consistent hitting on day-day basis then there is no reason why they can’t be in play for the N.L West crown come the ending of September. Yankee fans love their pinstripes and their something special about that but I Love my Dodger Blue because there’s something pretty damn Magical about that also.
