First rd pick 18- The Dallas Cowboys Select: Shelden Richardson. The Cowboys get their impact defensive tackle with their 1st pick. Richardson is a very good player who gets up the field who can get pressure on the quarterback and can force errant throws. He will need some work against though but is solid in shedding bigger blockers. He racked up 75 tackles with 10.5 tackles for loss and obtained 4.5 sacks.
Second Rd Pick 47: The Dallas Cowboys select: Larry Warford. Warford would instantly upgrade the interior of the cowboys offensive line which needs help badly. The big offensive guard from Kentucky stands at 6’3, 332 and is very strong. He pass protects very well and plays with a nasty attitude. He has very quick feet which helps him the run game as well as pass protection.
Third Rd pick 80: The Dallas Cowboys select: Barrett Jones. Jones is one of my favorite players in this years draft. If i were to describe Jones with two words, they would be: versatile and champion. Jones is the proud owner of Three National Championships and just might be the most decorated lineman in College Football ever. He has played right guard, left tackle and center. In 2011 he won the Outland Trophy given to the best offensive linemen and in 2012, he won the Rimington Trophy which goes to the best center. There are questions about his strength though and its one of the few knocks on his game.
Fourth rd pick 114: The Dallas Cowboys select: J.J Wilcox. You want a physical tackler that will bring a spark to your secondary well J.J Wilcox is your man. He’s a former running back that was switched to safety before the 2012 season. He collected 84 tackles with two interception at his final season with Georgia Southern. He has good ball skills, a solid open field tackler who isn’t afraid to mix it up. He must get better at reading routes and reading the quarterback.
5th rd pick 151: The Dallas Cowboys select: Mike Gillislee. Running back is a need for the cowboys especially with DeMarco Murray injury history. Gillislee to me is one of the more underrated running backs in this yrs draft class. He waited patiently behind former gators Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey. When he got his opportunity to shine last season he took full advantage of it. He rushed for 1,152 on 244 carries with 10 rushing touchdowns. He posses very good speed and has very good quickness. He can set up defenders for devastating cutbacks. He must be solid in pass protection if he wants to see the field in his rookie season. If called upon due to injury, i think he can step right in and make an impact.
6th rd pick 185: The Dallas Cowboys select: Kevin Reddick. I think if Reddick fell to the cowboys in the 6th rd it would give them great value. Reddick rarely misses games and was one of they key contributors on the North Carolina defense for the past few yrs. In 2012 he blossomed as he earned 1st All-ACC honors on Defense. He collected 85 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss and garnering 6.5 sacks. He is an effective blitzer than get to the quarterback and he plays sideline to sideline. Running Backs don’t run away from reddick which means he’s a solid tackler and has the speed to track them down. He does need to get better in pass coverage because teams might take advantage of his over aggressiveness against the pass.
